Dr. Ashley Falcon
Chair
Ashley Falcon is an Assistant Professor at the University of Miami’s School of Nursing and Health Studies. After receiving a Masters in Public Health specializing in health education, she studied border health issues on the U.S.-Mexico border while with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Ashley served as a wellness administrator for over a decade and received her doctorate in epidemiology. Her research focuses on sexual violence prevention, overseeing the evaluation of Miami-Dade County’s human trafficking victim support services, physical activity promotion, and eliminating healthcare disparities for people with disabilities.
MARTIN PINILLA
Treasurer
Martin Pinilla is a homegrown success who graduated from Gulliver Academy, Coral Gables Senior High International Baccalaureate, and Florida International University. He is also the co-founder and co-managing partner of Barlington Group, a Miami-based real estate investment and development company committed to revitalizing emerging neighborhoods in Miami’s urban core. In 2002, Martin began investing in small-scale residential properties in Little Havana and simultaneously as a commercial real estate broker. Barlington Group’s primary focus is Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood, and the company is now one of the neighborhood’s most significant stakeholders.

Healthy Little Havana has a Board of Directors position open. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Providing overall guidance to the HLH initiative to assure adherence to the engagement of diverse stakeholders, including and especially the voice of community residents;
Supporting the development of processes, procedures, and activities that support the HLH initiative;
Making decisions that will drive planning and development related to the identification of Health Priority Areas for the HLH initiative.

Dr. Edgar Vieira
Member at Large
Dr. Edgar Vieira is a professor of physical therapy and the Associate Dean of Research at Florida International University’s Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences. His work focuses on helping older adults maintain their independence by improving mobility and preventing falls. He brings extensive experience in community-centered health research, with over 160 peer-reviewed publications and funding from the NIH, Department of Veterans Affairs, ACL, and Florida Department of Health. Dr. Vieira also serves as Editor-in-Chief of Physical & Occupational Therapy in Geriatrics and is a grant reviewer for NIH, CDC, and other national agencies.
